Our Dorm Verses- Spring '09

"For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love."

Ephesians 4:12-16

Dedication to Weeks Dorm

"Be Still is dedicated to the 2007-2009 Weeks' girls and the 2008 Women's Soccer team. My two years on staff at MBBC have been a source of joy, encouragement, love, and hope. Being your dorm supervisor/coach has provided precious memories that I will NEVER forget, for through good times and bad you have pointed me to God's Word, kept me sane, and made me laugh. My love for all of you can never be expressed in words, but I hope that as you listen to this recording it will shine through in the words of the title song:
Be Still, my soul, the Lord is on thy side;
Bear patiently the cross of grief or pain.
Leave to thy God to order and provide;
In every change HE faithful will remain:
Be still, my soul, when change and tears are past;
All safe and blessed we shall meet at last."
I love all of you girls so much and miss you already! Remember what we have all learned together! Stay strong, do right, and love the Lord more than anything!

Hayley

GO INTRAMURAL BBALL TEAMS!

Mediocre or Monumental Christianity?!

"Growing up in Christ: taking our Christianity from mediocre to monumental."

This semester in Week Dorm we are exploring what it means and looks like to have a vibrant, active, visible relationship with God. Let me define the two key words in our theme.

Mediocre- Moderate to inferior in quality, ordinary.

Monumental- Of outstanding significance.

I am not sure about you, but I want my Christianity to be MONUMENTAL, I want it be of outstanding significance! Well... how? Here is what we have explored so far this semester!

TIME: Psalm 119 is packed full of verses that speak of a close personal relationship with God. The author speaks of a passion for His laws, rules, and will. If our Christianity is to be MONUMENTAL, there must be a relationship behind it, right? YES! That relationship develops over a period of time of spending time with the Lord. But also, more importantly, we must MAKE the time. In our day and age, we are all crazy busy. MAKE time, or you will not have any time at all. You make time for what is important in your life. Make time for your relationship with the Lord.

PRAYER: Talking to the Lord can sometimes become like a robot reciting commands to it's user. That should NOT be how we talk to the Lord! He is our creator, our maker, our Abba Father! We need to pray conversationally, personally, and specifically! When we talk to friends and family we talk conversationally, personally, and specifically... why do we not do that with the Lord?! If our Christianity is to be monumental, we need to revolutionize the way we think about prayer! Prayer is personal! Let us not be robots! Robots are NOT personal! They are cold, lifeless, and have no sense of humor! That is NOT how God is to us, and it is NOT how we should be to God.
